Lavenia Joy Schaffner of Henrietta


Lavenia Joy Schaffner, 81, of Henrietta, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6 at the First Baptist Church in Henrietta with Rev. Randy Osborn, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Henrietta under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.

Mrs. Schaffner was born April 8, 1933 in Indiahoma, Okla., to Julius and Gracie (Laing) Neugebauer. After graduation, she attended two years at The Dallas Bible Institute. She married Leonard Schaffner on Nov. 19, 1955 in Lawton, Okla. Mrs. Schaffner was a member of the First Baptist Church of Henrietta, where she taught Sunday school and Training Union for numerous years.

Mrs. Schaffner is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Schaffner; one son, Glenn Dale Schaffner; one brother, Gerald Neugebauer; and a sister, Linda Tramel.

Survivors include her son, Alan Schaffner and wife Leslie of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Joy Schaffner of Henrietta; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Schaffner of Henrietta; a brother, Don Neugebauer and wife Sammy of Indiahoma, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Clara Neugebauer of Henrietta; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Davis Funeral Home from from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday.
