Arnold Groves of Petrolia


Arnold Groves, 89, of Petrolia, passed away on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 in Henrietta.

Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12 in the Petrolia Cemetery with Rev. James Keenum officiating.

Mr. Groves was born Sept. 30, 1925 to T.D. “Daily” and Connie (West) Groves on the homestead of his grandparents C.C. and Martha Groves, where he grew up and continued farming and raising Hereford cattle. Mr. Groves served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

He is preceded in death by one sister, Mary Mathis; and a brother, Leon Groves.

Survivors include two sisters, Helen Embry and husband Theo of Robinson, and Martha Poyner and husband Jim of Petrolia;a  brother-in-law, Bob Mathis of Chandler, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Marcia Groves of Petrolia; three nephews and six nieces.
