Hamlin’s Pied Pipers proved up their state ranking Friday night in Petrolia, scoring 48 points in the first half en route to a 61-7 win over the Pirates.

Hamlin is ranked third statewide in Class 2A, Division II by Max Preps.

Petrolia got on the board late in the second quarter when sophomore quarterback Dane Williams connected with wide receiver Jaden Lane for a 35-yard touchdown. Williams kicked the extra point.

Hamlin scored on runs of 56 and five yards and pass completions of 57 and one yard in the first quarter. The Pied Pipers scored on a one-yard run, a 58-yard pass and a 43-yard run in the second quarter.

Hamlin added a one-yard touchdown run in the third and a 31-yard interception return in the fourth for the final score.

Williams connected 16 of 34 pass attempts for 127 yards and four interceptions. He found Lane four times for 78 yards. The Pirates rushed for 97 yards on 27 carries.

Hamlin finished with 308 yards rushing on 30 carries and completed nine of 11 pass attempts for 237 yards.

On Friday, the Pirates travel to Munday for a 7 p.m. start.
