George Alton Kelton of Henrietta


George Alton Kelton, 66, of Henrietta, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Church of God in Henrietta with Rev. Robert Fletcher, pastor, officiating and Brian Kelton assisting. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mr. Kelton was born Nov. 14, 1947 in Henrietta to Homer C. and Lawanda Jean (Johns) Kelton. He married Rita Battle on Sept. 6, 1969 in Hurst and was a member of the Army National Guard. Mr. Kelton worked as an electrical engineer with TU Electric and was a member of the Henrietta Church of God. In 2011 he became a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas and in 2012 he became a member of the Sons of the American Revolutionary War.

Mr. Kelton is preceded in death by his mother, Lawanda Jean (Johns) Kelton.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Kelton of Henrietta; father, H.C. Kelton of Henrietta; two sons, Chris Shawn Kelton and wife Cynthia of Clinton, La., and Brian George Kelton and wife Brandi of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one daughter, Kelli Knotts and husband Brian of Fort Worth; one sister, Freida Gilstrap and husband Dean of Henrietta; two brothers, Odell Kelton and wife Jenny of Henrietta, and Kerry Kelton and wife Rilee of College Station; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Davis Funeral Home.
