Henrietta’s varsity Lady Cats opened district volleyball Friday night with a win over Bowie in four sets.
The Lady Cats dominated Bowie in the first set to earn a 25-13 win, and took a big lead in the second set before Bowie changed the momentum of the match. The Lady ‘Rabbits fought back to within one point, and the Lady Cats barely escaped with a 26-24 win. Bowie forced a fourth set with an 18-25 win in the third set, but Henrietta claimed the match with a 25-18 fourth.
Taylor Bennett led the effort with 17 kills, 10 digs and an ace., followed by freshman Maddie Brown with 14 kills and six digs. Sierra Burkhart scored 13 and had five digs. Kenzie Kirk scored four kills and two aces to go with 40 set assists and 12 digs. At libero, Lizzie Riordan had 23 digs. The freshman scored three aces.
Henrietta continues district play Tuesday, Sept. 16, traveling to Paradise and will host Holliday on Friday, Sept. 19.
