Clay County well represented in youth rodeo finals

Five kids from Clay and Wichita counties competed in all three go-rounds of the Mid-South Youth Rodeo Cowboys Association finals rodeo held Friday, Aug 29-Monday, Sept. 1 in Duncan Okla. Hadley Gee of Dean qualified in barrels and poles, placing in the top 10 in poles. Tater Jordan of Dean was the reserve champion in poles, goat tying average winner, placed fourth in calf riding, third in All-Around and was named the top sportsman for ages 7-9. Cooper Gee of Dean was a first year finalist in barrels, poles and ribbon goat, and finished in the top 10 in the all-around. Coyt Schmader of Iowa Park was a first year finalist in mutton busting, finishing in the top 10. Cooper Coleman of Henrietta was a first year finalist in mutton busting and ribbon goat, finishing in the top 10 in both events. MRCA has more than 250 members, holds 20 rodeos throughout the year in Texas and Oklahoma with 155 cowboys and cowgirls making it to the finals. The top 15 in each event qualify or the finals.
