Fred William Castle of Shannon


Fred William Castle, 99, of Shannon, died Thursday, Sept. 4 in Nocona.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7 at Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro. Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery under the direction of Coker Funeral Home.

Mr. Castle was born Feb. 17,1915 in Jack County. to Morris “Babe” and Annie Dora (Duncan) Castle. He married Madeline Edith McMahen in Archer City July 27, 1940. Fred was a derrick man in the oilfield and a rancher. He was a member of Jack County Farm Bureau and past board member of the Shannon Cemetery Association.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Edith McMahen, on March 12, 2005; a daughter-in-law, Frankie Castle; and three sisters, Mary Powell, Beulah Stuart and Addie Swift.

Survivors include his children, Annyce Moore and her husband Freddie of Henrietta, Fred Allen Castle of Nocona, and Mary Nell Youngblood husband Jackie Polaner; a sister in law, Claudia Castle; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
