Robert Allen Orton of Temple


Robert Allen Orton, 57, of Temple, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at the United Methodist Church in Bellevue. Burial will follow at the Bellevue Cemetery under the direction of White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.

Mr. Orton was born July 23,1957 in Monterey, Calif., to William and Elizabeth (Ludwig) Orton. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1976 and served in the U.S. Army as a pilot, flying UH1 airplanes. He also flew commercial for several oilfield companies. Robert worked at Allred Prison for 7 years, then owned and operated Asco Venture Trucking Company. He played guitar and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Orton.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Orton of Wichita Falls; mother, Elizabeth Gray of Bellevue; two sons, Michael Orton and wife Kartika of Wichita Falls, and Christopher Orton of Wichita Falls; three brothers, Billy Orton and wife Misti of Vashti, Harry Orton and wife Sunny of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Edward Orton and wife Nina of Bellevue; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4 at White Family Funeral Home.
