Jack Parkey of Dundee


James Robert “Jack” Parkey III, 69, of Dundee, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in Wichita Falls.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Holliday at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 27 with Paul Meyenberg officiating. A reception will follow, but there will be no public graveside service, as Mr. Parkey wished his ashes returned to the ranch. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

Mr. Parkey was born Jan. 27, 1945 in Stephenville to James Robert “Jim” Parkey Jr. and Helen DeMontel Parkey. He graduated high school from Kemper Military Academy in Missouri. and attended the University of Texas in Austin before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Finance from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

He worked for more than a decade as a trust officer and vice president at First Wichita National Bank in downtown Wichita Falls, before returning to the family ranch in Archer County. He was a rancher for more than 35 years.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Sara Parkey Mayo; and step-mother, Jolene Cullum Parkey.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ann Avis Parkey; two sons, James Robert Parkey IV, M.D. and wife Katie of Jolly, and David Warren Parkey and wife Vanessa Parkey of Seymour; a daughter, Jennifer Parkey Herring  and husband Todd of Archer City; one brother, George Proctor Parkey and wife Kim Fredericksburg; and seven grandchildren.
