Two Clay County organizations will host Independence Day activities beginning Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4.

The Henrietta Volunteer Fire Department will host the third annual Fireworks in the Park from noon until 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 3 and from noon until midnight Friday, July 4 at Hapgood Park.

HVFD will have a fireworks stand open across the street from Hapgood Park and hamburger, hotdog and snow cone concessions on site. The sale of fireworks and concessions is a fundraiser for the department.

The Charlie Community Center will once again host the annual Fourth of July Picnic on July 4. The event begins at 6 p.m. with live music, a children’s parade and free watermelon. The event is capped with a fire works show put on by the Charlie-Thornberry Volunteer Fire Department. The community center will sell hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks as a fundraiser. Those attending are urged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
