Francis T. Pickens of Jolly


Francis T. Pickens, 88, of Jolly, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 at the Jolly Baptist Church.

Mr. Pickens was born Sept. 18, 1925 in Weaverville, N.C. to Francis T. and Anna Ruth (Ray) Pickens II. He married Juanita Pearl (Crews) on March 16, 1951 and they were married for 50 years. Mr. Pickens received his Electronics Degree from Auburn University and was retired from General Dynamics where he worked as an electronics engineer. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a Deacon at Wedgewood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, a member of the Gideon Association and the Amateur Radio Operator WSRCR.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Pickens; and one grandson, Jeffrey Tipton.

Survivors include a son, Wesley Pickens and wife Vickie of Jolly; a daughter, Beverly Diane Tipton and husband Don of Houston; a sister, Clema Wilson; a brother, Ray Pickens; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
