Mike Rhone of Bellevue


Charles Michael “Mike” Rhone, 71, of Bellevue, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17 at the First Baptist Church of Bellevue with Robert Slayton officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery under the direction of White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.

Mr. Rhone was born April 11, 1943 in Amarillo to Charlie and Leona (Hogan) Rhone. He spent his childhood in Vashti and Bellevue, and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1961. He served in the Army National Guard from 1963–1969. He married Rosalee Rater on April 8, 1967. He earned a Bachelor of Business degree from Midwestern State University in 1971. Mike and Rose lived in the Wichita Falls area until 1987 where he was active in the real estate and home building industry. The family moved back to Bellevue in 1987 where they finished raising their boys. He also raised cattle and enjoyed music, reading and history. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and was active in delivering Meals on Wheels. He served as vice president of the Bellevue High School Ex Students Association. He served as past president of the North Texas Homebuilders Association and past vice president of the Clay County Pioneer Association.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Leona Rhone; and one sister, Rebecca Wetsel.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalee Rhone of Bellevue; two sons, Chris Rhone and wife Kristen of Leonard, and Brian Rhone and wife Christy of Leonard; A brother, Steve Rhone and wife Pam of Rockwall; a sister, Kathy Gregory and husband Dennis of Henrietta; and five grandchildren.
