William “Al” Taylor of Wichita Falls


William “Al” Taylor, 93, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 17 at Salem Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Thomas McDonald and Norman Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park, under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.

Mr. Taylor was born Feb. 24, 1921 in Petrolia to James T. Taylor and Dora Alice (Haney) Taylor. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He was an avid baseball fan and followed the Texas Rangers. His love for baseball also led him to coaching women’s fast-pitch softball in his younger years.

Al is preceded in death by his wife, Yvette; two sisters, Verna White and Ramona Davis; two brothers, Elmer and Raymond Taylor and a step-daughter, Jimmie Scott.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Taylor and Keith Taylor of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Doris Walter, Edna McDaniel and Jean Massie and husband Don, all of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m., June 16 at the funeral home.
