Ray Leon Bookout of Pueblo, Colo.


Ray Leon Bookout, 73, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, in Pueblo, Colo.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 6 at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Henrietta with Andy Graham officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Byers under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.

Mr. Bookout was born July 1, 1940 in Chickasha, Okla., to Everett L. and Vondale (Tubbs) Bookout. He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years. He received many accommodations which include; the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross unit citation with palm, Two Overseas Service Bars, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expedition Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Drill sergeant Identification Badge and Good Conduct medal with Fifth Award. He was also a retired minister.

He is preceded in death by his father, Everett L. Bookout; mother, Vondale Waldon; step-father, Homer Ellis; wife, Geraldine Bookout; daughter-in-law, Dora Burris; granddaughter, Sara G. Bookout, and first wife and mother of his children, Anita Bookout.

Survivors include his children, Michael Bookout and wife Angela, Gary Bookout and wife Antonnette, Randy Burris and one daughter, Paula Barker; three brothers, Everett Bookout, Jimmy Bookout and Sammy Ellis and wife Theresa; one sister, Glenda Clampitt; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Davis Funeral Home on Thursday from 6-7 p.m.
