A portion of South Graham Street (Hwy. 148 South) in Henrietta will remain closed until Friday as Burlington Northern Santa Fe crews make repairs on the railroad crossing between Hwy. 287 and Hwy. 82.

The roadway will be closed in both directions at the crossing around-the-clock. No through traffic will be able to cross. However, local residents will be able to access their property on either side.

Repair work on the railroad tracks be can Monday, and the crossing closed on Tuesday. Repairs were expected to last two days, however, unanticipated conditions below the tracks have spurred extra maintenance work.  While the crossing will remain closed to motorists until Friday, some trains will be able to run at night.

A signed detour will be in place to get motorists around the construction.  Local residents are highly encouraged to avoid the area if possible.

“Poor weather can delay this type of work,” said TxDOT spokesperson Adele Lewis. “The site will be reopened to travel as soon as safely possible.”
