Gibbs, Whitehead to play for Wayland; Kleinert signs with Arlington Baptist

Three Henrietta athletes signed letters of intent Tuesday night, continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

Seniors Turner Gibbs and Aaron Whitehead will join athletic programs at Wayland Baptist University in the fall, while Parker Kleinert will go to Arlington Baptist University.

Gibbs, a 6-3, 255-pound offensive guard and defensive tackle for the Bearcats will play football for the WBU Pioneers. Gibbs runs the 40-yard dash in 5.4 seconds, bench presses 300 and squats 315.

Aaron Whitehead will play Baseball for WBU. Whitehead finished the 2014 season with a 24 hits  on 89 at bats for 14 RBIs, 33 runs and a .270 batting average. The lefty pitched 44 innings for 83 strikeouts, 39 walks and 25 hits. Whitehead had a 2.864 ERA. The senior is a first team all-district outfielder.

District 8-2A Offensive MVP Kleinert will play baseball for ABU. The senior right-hander plays pitcher and third base. On the mound, Kleinert finished the 2014 season with a 1.72 ERA, working 77.1 innings for 93 strikeouts while allowing 67 hits and 25 walks.
