Officers of Bucky Boyd 5401 of the VFW perform the Memorial Day ceremony to honor Clay County’s servicemen who died while fighting in conflicts around the world.

Bucky Boyd Post 5401 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars held its annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Clay County War Memorial, located on the northwest corner of the courthouse lawn, Monday morning.

The ceremony is held each year to honor those who died while serving in the U.S. military overseas.

While VFW members have in past years followed the ceremony by placing flags at the graves of veterans in Hope Cemetery, the Henrietta Boy Scouts have begun a new tradition. Boy Scouts will place the flags on the Friday prior to Memorial Day, as it is done at Arlington National Cemetery.
