Sweeping Archer City in two games over the weekend, Petrolia advances to the Class A Region I softball semifinal, where the Lady Pirates will face Haskell.

With a 3-1 win in game one Friday, the Lady Pirates returned to Graham Saturday morning to close the series. Both teams had scoring chances Saturday, but it was Petrolia who was able to capitalize on them, topping the Lady ‘Cats 4-1.

Archer City got eight hits compared to six for the Petrolia Lady Pirates, but stranded 10 on base.

The Petrolia Lady Pirates got the win thanks in large part to Katie Cummings’s dominant, seven-strikeout performance. Katie Cummings allowed one earned run, eight hits and one walk over seven innings.

Wuthrich couldn’t get it done on the rubber for Archer, taking a loss. She lasted just three innings, walked one, struck out none and allowed no runs.

The Lady Pirates took the lead in the first, scoring two runs on an error and a groundout by Kody Mataska.

Archer City scored one in the third inning. The Petrolia answered the lady Cats with one run of their own when Sidney Mobley stole home. Petrolia tallied its final run on and RBI double by Macy Ridinger to score Coty Chase.

Time and place for the Region I Semifinal have not been set.
