Despite Kleinert’s effort, Bearcats fall to Bangs in Area playoff

Bearcat Parker Kleinert allowed just two runs in Friday’s area round playoff at Weatherford College, but Henrietta couldn’t get the offense going in a 2-0 defeat to Bangs.

Parker was a workhorse on the mound for Bearcats, allowing one earned run, six hits and four walks while striking out four in seven innings.

JT Newton recorded the win for Bangs. He tossed seven innings of shutout ball. Newton struck out 11, walked one and gave up two hits.

Bangs took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, and scored again in the seventh.

Henrietta finished with two hits and committed four errors. Kleinert singled on a ground ball to short stop in the bottom of the first inning and Tylor Brown singled to centerfield in the second.

With the playoff loss, the Bearcats finish the 2014 season with a 20-10 record.
