After going undefeated in district play, Petrolia’s Lady Pirates opened their playoff drive Friday with a 13-1 “ROMP” of Ralls, earning an area title and advancing to the regional quarterfinals.
Eleven runs in the first three innings allowed the Lady Pirates to put the game away early.
An error, an RBI double by Katie Cummings, and a groundout by Kody Mataska during the first inning and an error, an RBI single by Sidney Mobley, a two-run home run by Kirsten Kenyon, and a two-run triple by Kaylee King in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Lady Pirates.
King got a hit in each of her three at bats.
Cummings pitched lights out for the Petrolia Lady Pirates. Ralls managed just two hits off of Cummings, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during her two innings of work.
King got the win in relief for the Petrolia Lady Pirates, pitching three innings and allowing one run.
The Petrolia Lady Pirates hammered Ralls pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 13 hits, 10 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
Cince Cavanos was charged with the loss. She allowed nine runs in two innings, walked one and struck out none.
Petrolia got two-run rallies in the third and fourth innings. In the third, the Lady Pirates scored on an RBI triple by Abby Anderson, pushing Ryanne Macklin across home plate.
