Hollie Thomas, Joyana Zamzow, Kenzie Kirk and Kamryn Weaver set a Henrietta High School record in the 1,600-meter relay during Friday’s area meet at Clyde.

A record that stood for 29 years was broken Friday when Henrietta’s 1,600-meter relay team crossed the finish line at the 7-2A/8-2A area meet in Clyde.

Crossing the finish line in 4 minutes, 11.51 seconds, Hollie Thomas, Kenzie Kirk, Joyana Zamzow and Kamryn Weaver beat the previous record of 4:11.8 set by Kristi Pollard, Tiffany Mansbridge, Tammy Skinner and Laurie Burleson in 1985.

The team placed fourth in the event, good enough to qualify for the Region I-2A meet April 25 in Odessa.

The Lady Cat 800 relay team of Lacey Webb, Kirk, Callie Page and Zamzow also qualified for regionals with a time of 1:51.73 for sixth place.

Weaver, Kirk, Zamzow and Sierra Burkhart qualified in individual events. Weaver took second place in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.22 seconds, followed by Kirk in fourth place with 16.65. Zamzow took second place in triple jump with 35 feet, 6 inches. Burkhart placed fourth with a leap of 5 feet.
