‘Hog Out’ program offers corn vouchers to Clay County hunters, trappers

As the population of feral pigs continues to grow, hunters and trappers in Clay County could qualify for vouchers to assist with purchase of corn.

Hog hunters and trappers in Clay County could receive assistance in purchasing corn for baiting feral pigs through the Texas Department of Agriculture’s “Hog Out” program.

Tyler Garrison, coordinator of the Clay County Hog Out, has announced that a number of vouchers for the purchase of corn will be awarded to persons who live in the county earn income by trapping and hunting feral pigs in Clay County. The vouchers will be awarded through a drawing to be held May 15.

Deadline to enter the drawing will be at 5 p.m., May 14.

Garrison will use information provided by those who enter to compile a list of area hunters and trappers. The list of hunters and trappers will be available to landowners who need assistance in controlling feral pig populations.
