Lady Pirates rout Quanah in 25-2 slugfest


The Petrolia Lady Pirates refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Quanah, recording a 25-2 victory on the road Friday.

PHS-Softball-GraphicTwelve runs in the first three innings allowed the Petrolia Lady Pirates to put the game away early.

An error, a groundout by Katie Cummings, and an RBI single by Kaylee King during the first inning and an RBI single by Kirsten Kenyon and a two-run single by Kody Mataska in the second inning fueled the Petrolia Lady Pirates’ offense early.

Kenyon racked up four RBIs on five hits for the Petrolia Lady Pirates. Kody Mataska went 3 for 4 with four RBIs.

Cummings looked sharp in the circle. Quanah managed just one hit off of the the Lady Pirate pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out eight during her three innings of work.

The Lady Pirates easily handled Quanah’s pitching as 11 hitters combined for 30 hits, 20 RBIs and 24 runs scored.
