V.A. Burris, 86, of Byers, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7 at Riverside Cemetery in Byers with Rev. Ken Johanan, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Byers, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mr. Burris was born Dec. 11, 1927 in Sunset to John Henry and Lorena Pearl (Golden) Burris. He married Melba Ruth (Adams) on June 4, 1976 in Wichita Falls. Mr. Burris was a farmer and rancher and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Byers. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Melba Ruth (Adams) Burris; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Paula Barker and husband Mike of Wichita Falls; one son, Randy Burris of Byers; two step-sons, Tommy Henderson of Byers, and Todd Henderson of Lorena; one step-daughter, Janet Birkner of Zephyr; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
