A high-speed chase that began in Wichita Falls came to an end in Clay County on Hwy. 79 near Dean Tuesday afternoon, resulting in one arrest.

Charles Eric Bartee, 28, of Wichita Falls, was taken into custody by the Wichita Falls Police Department on felony charges of evading arrest in vehicle, possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine and tampering with evidence. He was also charged with driving while intoxicated.
According to the WFPD, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle at 3:18 p.m. in the area of 9th and Baylor streets in Wichita Falls when the driver began throwing suspected narcotics out of the vehicle and continued to drive. Additional officers joined the pursuit, and were joined by three state troopers once the chase left the Wichita Falls city limits.
Dean-Dale and Wichita East volunteer fire departments responded to a small fire that sparked in the suspect’s vehicle.
