Fire Weather Watch issued for Friday afternoon

Red FlagThe National Weather Service in Norman, Okla., has issued a Fire Weather Watch, effective Friday afternoon, Feb. 21, for most of western Oklahoma and western North Texas, including Clay County.

Winds are expected to reach 20-25 miles per hour at the 20-foot level, with humidity levels dipping to between 15 and 20 percent. Temperatures are expected to reach 65 degrees.

Any fires that develop will spread rapidly due to the combination of high winds, low humidity and warm temperatures. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Clay County remains in a burn ban
