John Gill of Burkburnett


John Burton Gill, 83, of Burkburnett, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Avenue C Church of Christ in Burkburnett with Mr. Mark Hendry, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Bellevue Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mr. Gill was born on Oct. 26, 1930 in Bellevue to Lee and Joy (Lawson) Gill. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and married Joyce Farrar on Feb. 13, 1952 in Bellevue. He owned a grocery store and was in the plumbing business. He was a member of the Avenue C Church of Christ in Burkburnett. Mr. Gill served on the Burkburnett Volunteer Fire Department and Burkburnett School Board. He was very active in the Chamber of Commerce and in his church.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; and one brother, Raymond Gill.

Survivors include a son, Robert Gill and wife Denise of Burkburnett; a daughter, Patti Burris and husband Dwight of Burkburnett; a sister, Doris Willson of Burkburnett; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the Avenue C Church of Christ in Burkburnett, Texas on Friday, Jan. 24, from 6-8 p.m.
