Bowie teen dies from injuries suffered on Clay County road

A rural Clay County road has claimed its second fatality in less than five months.

Jennifer Danielle Hill, 19, of Bowie, was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where she later died after a one-vehicle rollover on 4 Wire Road early Sunday morning.

Hill was one of five people involved in the accident. The driver of the vehicle, Cody Reeves, 22, of Bowie, was ejected from the vehicle. He and three passengers — Fernando Segura, 20, Elizabeth Willis, 18, and Nicholas Thresher, 21, all of Bowie — were treated for minor injuries at Bowie Memorial Hospital and released, said DPS Spokesperson Tony Fulton.

The accident was reported at 1:43 a.m.

The teenagers were traveling south on 4 Wire Road near Newport in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup when the driver lost control of the vehicle, Fulton said. The vehicle struck a boulder located just off the road and rolled over.

Bowie businessman Rick Gunter died August 23 in a one-vehicle accident on 4 Wire Road near the same location.
