Emma Jewel Lyde of Henrietta


Emma Jewel Lyde, 95, of Henrietta, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 28 at Hope Cemetery in Henrietta with Jimmy Moses, Youth Minister of the First Baptist Church of Henrietta, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mrs. Lyde was born on July 2, 1918 in Paradise to Hugh E. and Catherine Inez (Davis) Leslie. She married William G. “Bill” Lyde on Sept. 21, 1935. Mrs. Lyde was a Homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Lyde; a daughter, Mamie Roper; and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Ann Brown, Billie Petillon and Kitty Ruth Simpson, all of Henrietta; two sisters, Peggy Wineinger of Thornberry, and Virginia Corona of Dallas; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
