Lady Cats bound for Abilene with three-set win in Reg. I quarterfinal


Henrietta’s Lady Cat volleyball team is bound for Abilene, earning a berth to the Region I tournament with a three-set win over Breckenridge in Tuesday night’s regional quarterfinal.

The Lady Cats defeated Breckenridge in the quarterfinal 25-16, 25-15, 25-23.

Joyana Zamzow scored 14 kills in the win and finished with eight digs. Anni Scholl scored eight kills and had six digs, followed by Sierra Burkhart with seven kills. Taylor Bennett scored five kills, while Cassie Pickett scored six aces and had 17 digs as libero. Katie Halsell put up 20 set assists and Kenzie Kirk finished with 17 set assists.

Henrietta will face Highland Park in the Region I semifinal, set for 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at Abilene Christian University. Highland Park earned a three-set win over Sanford-Fritch in the quarterfinal round. The Region I final will be played at noon Saturday, Nov. 16.
