Muenster too much for Petrolia on the gridiron


Petrolia fell to Muenster 49-12 Friday night.

The Hornets scored 28 points in the second quarter alone, finding paydirt on runs of 18, 38 and nine yards. Muester also scored on a 14-yard pass play.

In the first quarter, Muenster took a 7-0 lead on a 43-yard run. In the third quarter, the Hornets scored on a 45-yard pass play and a seven-yard run.

Petrolia quarterback Dustin Hanusch found receiver Ryan Harrison twice in the fourth quarter for two touchdowns. The Hanusch-Harrison combination struck from five yards out and on a 16-yard play.

Hanusch completed 10 of 30 pass attempts and one interception for 186 yards passing. Harrison carried five pass receptions for 111 yards. The Pirates finished with 131 yards rushing on 26 carries. Bodie Cokendolpher carried the bulk of Petrolia’s ground game, claiming 65 yards on 11 carries.

Muenster finished with 362 yards rushing on 39 carries, and completed five of eight pass attempts for 132 yards and one interception.

Petrolia recovered one of three Muenster fumbles.
