Petrolia unable to overcome early deficit to Tigers


Electra came out to grab an early two-touchdown lead over the Petrolia en route to a 28-6 win over the Pirates. The Petrolia loss came despite a strong passing effort from Pirate quarterback Dustin Hanusch.

Hanusch completed 12 of 33 pass attempts for 129 yards. Hanusch found receiver Ryan Harrison four times for 34 yards. Electra’s defense gave Petrolia fits on the ground, as the Pirates ran the ball 16 times for 29 yards rushing. Electra came away with two interceptions.

Electra’s 14-point lead in the first quarter came on runs of 25 and 45 yards. Electra scored again in the second quarter on a one-yard run, and in the fourth on an eight-yard pass play.

The Tigers finished with 246 yards rushing on 43 carries, and 149 yards passing by completing nine of 14 attempts. Petrolia picked off one Electra pass.

Petrolia scored in the fourth quarter on a one-yard run from Hanusch. The extra-point kick failed.

Petrolia is 3-5 for the season and 0-3 in district play.
