Girl Scout Troop 8515 of Henrietta and the Clay County Pioneer Sentinel have planned a citywide garage sale for Saturday, Nov. 9. With the event, the Girl Scouts hope to earn their bronze and silver stars, awarded for leadership in community improvement.
During and immediately after the garage sale, the Girl Scouts accept donations of unsold items such as worn blankets, sheets and towels for the Clay County Animal Shelter, and clothing and other usable items for Clay County Mission Outreach.
The Girl Scouts of Henrietta are already involved with the organizations, and other areas of leadership in the county.
“We like to (sort) cans at the mission and we also do cards for people at the nursing home,” said Maddie Catron. The scout said the organization also holds food drives at local grocery stores.
One such canned goods drive begins Wednesday, Oct. 16.
Cost to participate in the citywide garage sale is $10, which includes one week’s advertising on the Clay County Pioneer Sentinel and on a flyer to be distributed at locations throughout Henrietta on the day of the sale. Proceeds from advertising sales will benefit the Clay County Animal Shelter and the Mission Outreach.
