Carolyn Slaughter Lovelace of Wichita Falls


Carolyn Louise Slaughter Lovelace, 81, of Wichita Falls, passed away Sunday, September 8th, 2013.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls on Wednesday with the Reverend Randy Osborn, pastor of First Baptist Church of Henrietta, officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Henrietta under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lovelace was born on May 31, 1932, on a farm between Joy and Bluegrove to Cody Houston and Rutha Jewell (Mayfield) Slaughter. She was a Clay County Pioneer. She graduated from Henrietta High School in 1949 and from Midwestern University in 1952, where she played clarinet in the band. She married John William Lovelace of Wichita Falls on Oct. 11, 1952 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. They were married for more than 60 years.

Survivors include her husband, John William Lovelace of Wichita Falls; two children, Bill Lovelace and wife Lisa of Wichita Falls, and Linda Cannedy and husband Curtis of Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 6-7 p.m. at Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to a charity of choice.
