Wichita Falls PD releases identity of body found in park

The Wichita Falls Police Department has identified a body found in Lucy Park more than a week ago as that of Darcy Lael Nichols, 34, of Henrietta.

Preliminary autopsy results indicated no signs of notable trauma, according to a statement issued by Sgt. John Spragins, spokesperson for the Wichita Falls Police Department. Foul play is not suspected in the death.

Toxicology results are pending and cause of death has not been determined, said Spragins.

The WFPD received a call at 8:52 a.m. requesting a welfare check for a vehicle located in the park. Officers discovered Nichols’ remains in the back of a green 1999 Ford Explorer parked on the west side of the park near the Wichita River.
