George Wayne Wikel of Byers


George Wayne Wikel, 57, of Byers, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 in Wichita Falls.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27 at the Byers Assembly of God Church with Rev. James Keenum, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Byers under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mr. Wikel was born Sept. 8, 1955 to Hub and Eva Mae (Howard) Wikel. He married Linda Marie Templeton on Sept. 21, 1973 in Byers. He was a member of the Byers Assembly of God Church and a correctional officer at the James V. Allred Unit in Wichita Falls.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roy Lee Wikel; and a great granddaughter, Abigail Marie Rivera.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Marie Wikel, of Byers; three daughters, Rebekah Rivera and husband Rudy of Byers, Michele Davis of Plains, Kan., and Melinda Wikel of Byers; one son, J.W. Finney of Longview; one sister, Barbara Conely and husband J.R. of Byers; one brother Billy Wikel and wife Sandy of Wichita Falls; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26 at Davis Funeral Home.
