The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has released video footage from the dash cameras of two CCSO vehicles involved in the June 15 pursuit of a stolen vehicle on Hwy. 82.
The Pioneer Sentinel obtained the footage through an open records request.
The driver, identified as Michael Darell Rollerson, 29, of Wichita Falls, led deputies through eastern Clay County and western Montague County before the vehicle, a late-model Dodge four-door pickup. Clay County deputies and DPS Troopers deployed spike strips and a Montague County deputy fired eight shots at the vehicle before finally disabling it.
Spike strips were deployed at Anderson Road, east of Henrietta, and again at Crenshaw Road, east of Ringgold. The vehicle came to a stop just east of FM 1816, near Belcherville in Montague County.
Speeds during the pursuit ranged from 40-60 miles per hour. At times, the driver of the vehicle climbed partially through the driver’s side window while apparently talking on a cell phone, or to wave at deputies.
The vehicle was registered to a Henrietta man, and had been stolen from a Wichita Falls business the night before.
Rollerson has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, bond set at $5,000; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, bond set at $10,000; and evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle, bond set at $7,000. He posted bond and was released July 1.
