Ruth Wiist Tammen of Dean


Ruth Wiist Tammen, 94, of Dean, died on Friday, July 5, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, in the chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home with Pastor John Clark officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Henrietta, under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Mrs. Tammen was born June 26, 1919, in the Hurnville Community to Jacob and Elizabeth (Hoerth) Wiist. On April 23, 1938, she married David George Tammen in Vernon, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Clay County, former member of the Dean Riding Club and of the Dean Community Center. She was a homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David George Tammen, on Dec. 2, 1968.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Tammen and wife Debbie of Eatonton, Ga.; a daughter, Carolyn Askew of Dean; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and five great-great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 8, at the funeral home.
