Henrietta FFA members Katie Jo Blanscet, Connor Kirby and Annelise Sauer have been selected by the Texas FFA academic scholarship program to each receive an $18,000 scholarship for use at any Texas university beginning in the fall semester.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo fund the scholarships.
The three seniors were selected from a pool of more than 1,000 applicants from across the state. They were evaluated on their academic achievement, class ranking, admission test scores and FFA involvement throughout their high school careers. The Texas FFA awarded more than two million dollars in scholarships to graduating senior members across the state.
Blanscet will attend Tarleton State University to pursue a degree in nursing; Kirby will attend Midwestern State University, majoring in engineering; and Sauer will seek a degree in nutrition from Texas A&M.
The Texas FFA is the nation’s largest state FFA association with more than 94,000 members and 1,000 local FFA chapters. FFA gives students the opportunity to apply practical classroom knowledge to real world experiences through local, state and national competitions.
