Willard John Moreau, 77, of Bellevue, passed away on June 3, 2013 in Wichita Falls.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7 at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Bowie, with Fr. Richard Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Vashti Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.
Mr. Moreau was born Dec. 27, 1935 in Opelousas, La., to Ammie J. and Leora Pitre Moreau. He was raised on a farm in Opelousas and attended Washington High School in Washington, La. After high school, Mr. Moreau served in the Louisiana National Guard until 1955, and in the U.S. Army Reserve until 1959. He married Mearl Artigue on June 26, 1960 in Port Barre, La. He worked for the Fred J. Wyble Oilfield Construction Company, Carmichael Oilfield Construction and United Packers. In 1967, he went to work for Koch Industries in Baton Rouge, La. He was transferred to Texas in 1969, where he worked until retirement in 1993. After retiring from the oil industry, Mr. Moreau worked as a bus driver and in building maintenance for Bellevue ISD. He married June Griffith Oct. 1, 1998 in Whitesboro. He was a member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Bowie, and also attended Bellevue Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by wife Mearl Moreau on June 10, 1997; and a son-in-law, Ricky Staley on Dec. 13, 2012.
Survivors include his wife, June Moreau of Bellevue; one son, Gary Moreau and wife Charlotte of Heath; two daughters, Carla Staley of Vashti, and Lisa Moreau of West Hollywood, Calif.; one step-son, Johnny Griffith and wife Melody of Alvord; two step-daughters, Marianne Langford and husband Bob of Nocona, and Georgia Hedley and husband Bobby of Paradise; five brothers; Burnel Moreau and wife Marie of Lafayette, La., Roy Moreau and wife Rosemary of Tyler, Larry Moreau and wife Glenda of Opelousas, La., Gene Moreau and wife Dora of Opelousas, La., Roger Moreau and wife Doris of Bunkie, La.; four sisters, Val Boss and husband Harris of Lafayette, La., Catherine Castille and husband Harold of Opelousas, La., Martha Moreau and friend Roger Nobles of Colfax, La., and Connie Ortego of Alexandria, La., 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at Davis Funeral home from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, June 6.
