Lee R. Rankin of Wichita Falls


Lee R. Rankin, 76, of Wichita Falls, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 in Wichita Falls.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29 at Hope Cemetery in Henrietta with Mr. Joe Williams officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mr. Rankin was born and raised on a farm north of Neligh, Neb. His parents were Raymond and Vera Rankin. He attended school in Neligh, graduating in 1955, and joined the U.S. Army, serving tours in Germany and Okinawa, and two tours in Vietnam before he retired in 1971. He married Elsa Guntsmentel on Dec. 23, 1958 while in Germany on his first tour. After retirement they moved from North Carolina to Wichita Falls.

Survivors include his wife, Elsa Rankin of Wichita Falls; a son, Robert Lee Rankin of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Carol Bremer and husband Don, and Audrey Broxterman and husband Bill;  and a brother, Duane Rankin.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Davis Funeral Home.
