National Nursing Home Week

By Ashley Crownover

National Nursing Home Week was last week, and we all had a great time celebrating the joys of our home.

“Team Care: Everyone Pitches In” was the national theme for 2013. We work very well together as a team, so this theme was fitting for our facility, staff, and employees. Residents released balloons and made wishes as they let their balloons go on Monday morning, May 20. Then we had an ice cream social later that afternoon. Tuesday, we had a Resident Appreciation Celebration where more than 50 certificates were passed out in 12 categories.  Most active, most helpful, best attitude, best smile and most thoughtful are just a few categories of awards that were given. Residents that volunteered during the past year received certificates showing our appreciation for all that they do. Dan Webb and Friends came to the facility Thursday evening to provide musical entertainment for the staff and residents. We are grateful for this group of guys and their dedication to our residents. They really know how to sing and play the guitar! We had our yearly cookout Friday for residents and staff where we served hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans and all the fixings. We also had our employee awards ceremony on Friday where Debbie Brewer, LNFA, passed out awards to those employees who stood out and went above and beyond in the past year.

We are very thankful for the church services that Henrietta and surrounding communities offer our residents. Thanks for taking the time to keep God’s word to our facility and our faith alive. We truly appreciate all of those involved for their devotion to the spiritual needs of our residents.

God bless you all. Have a very happy and safe memorial day weekend!
