Lana Gaye Higgins, 75, of Longview, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at Hope Cemetery in Henrietta, under the direction of Welch Funeral Home of Longview.

Mrs. Higgins was born Nov. 4, 1937 in Wichita Falls to S.E. and Stella Gaye (Morgan) Moore. She loved horses, and as a youth, always had one. Lana rode in many parades in Wichita Falls and Henrietta. She was the 1955 Clay County Pioneer Reunion Rodeo Queen. She graduated from Henrietta High School in 1956 and was involved in many school activities. After graduation, she went to work for the Heart Association and had an illustrious career in radio sales in Wichita Falls and Waco. Upon retiring, she moved to Longview and became involved in the Paula Martin Jones Recreation Center aerobic classes.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Higgins of Longview; a daughter, Marla Bullard of Daingerfield; two sons, Scott Kirby and wife Robin of Longview, and Marvin Maberry III of Lafayette, La.; one stepson, Rick and wife Karen Higgins of Rowlett; a brother, David Moore and wife Susie of Kerrville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 at Welch Funeral Home.
