Bearcats dominate all-district baseball selections; Williams named MVP

After wrapping up Henrietta baseball’s best season in the program’s history, the Bearcats also dominated 8-2A’s All-District selections.

Four-year letterman Joe Dell Williams has been named Co-District MVP, joining Holliday’s Brayden Boyd in the honor. Senior Philip Davis earned Defensive MVP, while freshman Cody Fletcher joins Chandler Dean of Bowie as Co-Newcomer of the Year. Henrietta’s Kyle Sims, in his fourth year at the program’s helm, earned Coach of the Year.

First team selections are as follows:

Pitcher — Ben Fletcher, Henrietta, senior; Austin Conatser, Bowie, senior

Catcher — Gage Robinson, Bowie, junior

First base — Tyler Munden, Holliday, sophomore

Second base — Cooper Tisdale, Jacksboro, junior

Short stop — Chase Duncan, Holliday, junior

Third base — Logan Allen, Holliday, junior

Utility — Conner Fletcher, Henrietta, junior; Dalton Jackson, City View, sophomore

Designated hitter — Jaxon Phipps, Nocona, sophomore; Luke Vedder, Jacksboro, junior; Colton Shank, Holliday, sophomore

Outfield — Nick Powell, Henrietta, senior; Aaron Whitehead, Henrietta, junior; Cory Edwards, Holliday, junior; Sam Shirley, Holliday, senior

Second team selections are as follows:

Pitcher — Jase Scruggs, Bowie, senior; Logan Dixon, Jacksboro, Senior

Catcher — Chase Thompson, Jacksboro, sophomore

First base — Dylan Slade, Bowie, Sophomore

Utility — Seth Oliver, Holliday, Junior

Henrietta finished the 2013 season in the quarterfinal round of the Region I playoffs, and a 20-10-1 record.
