Henrietta’s record-book baseball season came to a close Saturday afternoon in Abilene with a 2-0 loss to Wall in the regional quarterfinal series.
Wall earned an 11-1 win Saturday, and opened the series Friday with a 4-3 win.
The Bearcats came out Saturday with a one-run lead in the first inning, but Wall’s bats came alive for six runs in the second. Wall moved on to score three in the fourth inning, one in the fifth and one in the sixth. Wall finished with nine hits and committed one error. Henrietta collected three hits and committed one error.
Parker Kleinert had one RBI.
Ben Fletcher took the loss on the mound with 3.1 innings of work. Rody Fenoglio, followed by Aaron Whitehead, rounded out the pitching rotation.
Henrietta played Wall much closer Friday night.
Wall took a 4-0 lead with runs in the first and third innings. Henrietta scored three runs in the sixth, but the rally fell short. Henrietta had three hits with Wall’s four. Both teams committed one error.
Whitehead doubled to drive the rally, for an RBI. Nick Powell also had an RBI. Ben Fletcher finished the night with two stolen bases.
Joe Dell Williams took the loss with 2.1 innings pitched. Parker Kleinert relieved Williams.
The Bearcats finished the season with a 22-10-1 record.
