The Pecan Shed kicked off construction of a new location in Henrietta Monday with a groundbreaking ceremony.

Construction will begin immediately, and the business hopes to have its doors open in October.

In August, the Henrietta Growth Corporation entered into agreement with Montz Pecan Company of Texas, Inc., parent company of The Pecan Shed, for the development of a gift shop and fuel stop to be located next to the Best Western Henrietta Inn and Suites on the southbound Hwy. 287 frontage road. The retail store will offer pecan products, fudge and pies, Texas-themed gifts and fuel for motorists.

Montz Pecan of Texas is owned by the Tim Montz family of Charlie. The business is expected to create 12 full-time jobs.
