Charles Bevering of Charlie


Charles A. Bevering,79, of Charlie, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 after a lengthy illness.

Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6 in the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

Mr. Bevering was born April 30, 1933 in Wichita Falls to Ed and Lillie Bevering.

He was a 1950 graduate of Petrolia High School and attended Midwestern State University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He was a long time Clay County farmer and rancher and served on the Nine Man Board of the Clay County Pioneer Association. He also served on the boards of directors of the First National Bank of Byers, First National Bank of Henrietta and the Hubbard Bank.

Survivors include his wife JoAnne of the home; stepchildren, Christine Andrews and Richard Andrews of Wichita Falls; a sister, Louise Smith of Pampa; and a brother, Joe Bevering and wife Billie of Charlie.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday, April 5, at the funeral home.
