Clay County man wanted in sex crime captured near Wichita Falls

Norman Lee Olson II, wanted by local law enforcement for indecency with a child, was captured by the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office Thursday evening in a field near McKinney Road in eastern Wichita County.

Olson, 54, of Petrolia, was camping in the field. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has been looking for Olson since Jan. 25, when he first eluded deputies. Early reports indicated that Olson had been spotted at Wichita Falls truck stop on at least two occasions, where he had attempted to use an ATM.

The investigation began on Tuesday, Jan. 22 on an initial report of indecency with a child. The mother of the child, a 13-year-old female, told deputies Olson had engaged in sexual contact with the girl. The child was taken to Patsy House Children’s Advocacy Center in Wichita Falls, and a forensic interview conducted.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the interviewer determined that Olson began touching the child in a sexual manner in October 2011, and that over time the inappropriate behavior became more severe. Sexual contact between Olson and the child last occurred Jan. 12 or Jan. 13, said the affidavit.

Indecency with a child is a second-degree felony. Bond for Olson is set at $150,000.
