Residents celebrate Mardi Gras

By Ashley Crownover

Henrietta Care Center is a fantastic place to live as well as a wonderful place to work. We would love for you to experience this first-hand by stopping by for a visit. We print extra calendars each month and we keep a supply of newsletters and brochures available, so be sure to grab a calendar, newsletter, and a brochure to take with you. We offer many services that numerous people are not aware of, and we have a list of services in our brochure. These services include respite care and wonderful therapy as well as pets being welcome in our facility and free wireless internet. You can also find our services and other useful information on our website at We will gladly answer any questions you may have, and we are certain you will be pleased with our facility.

We had our Mardi Gras party on Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. The room was decorated with Mardi Gras masks and other decorations.  Everyone wore beads that were donated by Doyle and Leota Edwards, and we had a great time eating, drinking, and being merry. We ate crackers, cheese, sausages, angel food cake, sherbet, and punch. Then we played a game of Mardi Gras trivia. Thank you very much to Barbara Harvey for attending the party and helping Vickie pass out food and make the celebration a great success.

We are getting ready for our monthly potluck meal at HCC. This meal is scheduled for Friday, March 8 at noon. This month, our theme will be “A Taste of Ireland” in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Our menu will include sausage, cabbage, fried potatoes, and green jello fruit salad. Any guest that comes to the potluck meal can enter for a chance to win a door prize. We invite you to drop by and have lunch with us. All you have to do is show up empty-handed, and it will be our pleasure to serve you. This monthly meal is one way for us to show our appreciation for everything our community does for us.

We have four residents celebrating their birthday this month. We wish a very happy birthday to Mary Blagg on the 10th, Harrell Edwards on the 11th, Maggie Bowman on the 21st, and Robert Bell on the 29th. We will have a special birthday celebration to honor these four residents. Feel free to send a card to any of the residents for their birthday or to stop by Henrietta Care Center to say hello and help brighten their day. Our monthly birthday party is scheduled for the 22nd at 3 p.m. You are welcome to join us for cake and celebration!

Have a great week, and we hope to see you Friday at noon!
