Bellevue man injured in motorcycle accident

A Sunday afternoon motorcycle accident in Bellevue sent one person to the hospital with what were described as non-incapacitating injuries.

Phillip Wesley Weathers, 35, of Bellevue, suffered broken limbs and lacerations in the accident.

Weathers was riding a 2009 Yamaha V-Star motorcycle south on FM 1288. As he rounded a curve, the motorcycle’s breaks locked up, causing Weathers to lay the motorcycle on its side, said DPS Trooper Ben Wolf.

The motorcycle hit several t-posts in a barbed-wire fence approximately 100 yards from the intersection of FM 1288 and King Street. Weathers came off of the motorcycle and struck a telephone pole.

After the accident, Weathers called his sister, who came to the scene then called 911.

Bellevue First Responders, Clay County EMS, DPS and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene at 1:58 p.m.

Weathers was taken by helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

Weathers was issued a citation for not having a motorcycle endorsement on his driver’s license.
